С момента прихода на этот форум я удивлялась отсутствию темы,посвященной Гору Вербински. А ведь он - второй после Тима Бертона режиссер, с которым чаще всех сотрудничал Джонни. На их счету 3 художественных фильма и 1 анимационный,и всех их можно назвать шедеврами мирового кинематографа. Это - трилогия "Пираты Карибского моря", мгновенно полюбившаяся миллионам зрителей со всего света и познакомившая нас с великолепным персонажем - капитаном Джеком Воробьем,и многих из нас - с причиной нашего присутствия здесь - Джонни Деппом и его творчеством. Это - "Ранго", великолепный анимационный шедевр, дань уважения вестернам,Клинту Иствуду, фильмографии Джонни Деппа и еще множеству фильмов.

Сейчас, в разгар предоскаровского сезона наград, "Ранго" один за другим получает награды от киносообществ США, поэтому, на этой радостной ноте захотелось мне открыть отдельную тему одному из моих любимых режиссеров.

Гор Вербински родился 16 марта 1964 в Тулса, Оклахома, США. Закончил Калифорнийский университет в 1987 году. В ранние годы увлекался музыкой, был участником нескольких рок-групп в Лос-Анджелесе. Начинал режиссерскую работу, снимая музыкальные клипы, рекламные ролики. Обладатель четырех наград «Клио» и одного каннского «Серебряного льва» за рекламные ролики. Среди его клиентов фирмы «Найк», «Будвайзер», «Кока-кола», «7 Ап», «Кэнон», «Юнайтед эйрлайнз».
После короткометражки "Ритуал",который он сам написал и снял,его дебютом в полном метре стал художественный фильм "Мышиная охота".

Сейчас он готовится к съемкам пятого совместного с Джонни фильма "Одинокий рейнджер",в момент денежных проблем которого, Джонни даже отказался сниматься без Гора.



Из всей его фильмографии я не видела только фильмы "Ритуал", "Звонок" и "Синоптик".Планирую посмотреть в скором времени.А остальные фильмы мне нравятся все без исключения.

Hi Mr Verbinski. Did you ever consider going for the 3D option when making Rango? I for one thought the movie was better without it. Adding 3D would have distracted from the incredible animation. Do you think Rango would have made even more money if it had been in 3D?

Gore_Verbinski: @thebeardedtrio.com: We looked at 3D and dismissed it because we felt like we weren't missing a dimension. I don't think it would've been justified to charge more money. But I guess it could've made more.

Hello Mr. Verbinski - the characters in RANGO are so completely unique... how did the first idea of a chameleon and all those amazing characters come to life?

Gore_Verbinski: @Bud Raymond: One of my biggest fears was having the film become clinical or sterile some how. The computer lends itself to perfection so easily. Having all the actors in one room was essential because it was one of the only opportunities in the entire process to react intuitively as things occurred. Could not have done the bar scene with one person and a microphone.

Gore_Verbinski: @Astrid: The characters were developed early on in the process. Working with Crash McCreery, David Shannon, Eugene Yelchin and Jim Byrkit, we started sketching ideas based on the simple concept: "Creatures in the desert, Western Genre, GO!"

Gore_Verbinski: @Roman: Tone is everything. I love films that singularity of voice. We tried to make a movie that made us happy and luckily we found an audience. I think if you work the other way around, ideas become diluted.

Gore_Verbinski: @Ruslan Sharifov: I had a 12 page outline for Rango when I was shooting Pirates 2. Talked to Johnny about it briefly and he was on board immediately when he the word, "lizard". The entire narrative was designed around anticipating his performance.

Gore_Verbinski: @ Mark Flanagan: We brought in Roger Deakins as soon as we started lighting the bar scene. Needed to communicate to the team at ILM what a live action approach would be. Ultimately there are too many choices on the computer and Roger gave the lighting intention.

Appreciate your time today! What were the risks / advantages of aiming RANGO at an audience demographic that skews a bit older than what often gets released to the theaters in animation? "Fantastic Mr. Fox" did the same. And I ask the question knowing that animators long have been wanting and actively attempting to break the medium out of being "just for kids."

Gore_Verbinski: @Margaret T: Animation is not a genre .. It is a technique for telling a story. Anything is possible. Ralph Bakshi did some really amazing work in the 70s. I would love to see animation migrate from purely family fare.. to other arenas. There is nothing wrong with family entertainment… It is just that there is plenty out there. That appetite is a little sated.

Well, the Japanese have already done just about every genre in animation. And for them it is mainstream. The US is just getting around to it, and just because it hasn't happened here doesn't mean it hasn't happened already. the Japanese also incorporate many gaming devices into their live action and animation projects. Gore_Verbinski: @Roman: There are no gifts in animation. Every blink, twitch and compression of the eye is a result of weeks of discussion. You have complete control on the one hand and the burden of that on the other. In live action you never quite control the chaos, but there can be happy accidents along the way.
